It’s been about three month’s since I had to work from home due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Like many, I haven’t gone out other than to get groceries or take-out.
These last three months have been… Insane. Apocalyptic-like; global pandemic, the BLM/ACAB movement, the DNC once again rigging the primary, oil prices crashing, the worst unemployment rate since the great depression, and wall street having their best month in decades despite everyone else missing out on the wealth. If you had warned me last year about all the other things happening on top of this pandemic, I wouldn’t have believed you. Kobe died as well just before all this shit. 2019 was a much simpler time.
It was my birthday on the 10th. I didn’t think that this pandemic would only last until mid-May the earliest, but I’ve now joined many others with celebrating it at home with only family (and some friends who have also practiced social distancing and stayed negative). I turned 29, and am now just realizing I’m on my last year being in my 20’s. It’s a weird thought, however I can honestly say I feel that I didn’t peak in my 20’s. Sure, I’ve accomplished a lot but feel indifferent about those accomplishments.
In the morning, I woke up around 5:45 am – which is the earliest I’ve gotten up since working from home, and went for a much needed walk. I brought my camera, three rolls of b/w film, and a light meter because I forgot how to do mental-metering.
I more than likely shot a whole bunch of nothing but doing the act of photography was incredibly therapeutic. That walk was really all that I could ask for on my birthday. A few days later… It’s really the only thing that I constantly think about.
Now it’s back to WFH on a Monday. I’m not sure when I’ll be going back to the office – perhaps by August? Who fucking cares… I sure don’t. I’m just rolling with the punches.
Anyway, that’s just me checking in and trying to clear my thoughts. I have so many other things in my head but they’re not worth writing down – not on here, at least.
Here are some recent scans from a simpler time (2019) to cap this post.
